# Order Types

H4 exposes several ways to place orders, but those actions resolve to a small set of exchange-side behaviors.

| Entry path | Exchange-side behavior |
| ------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------ |
| Market order from the controls section | IOC order |
| Chart order resting on the passive side of the market | GTC limit order |
| Chart order crossing to the trigger side of the market | Trigger order |
| Scale order | Multiple smaller GTC limit and/or trigger orders |
| DOM order | GTC order |

### Chart-side routing rules

When an order is placed from the chart, routing depends on side and price relative to the current market:

| Scenario | Result |
| ---------------------------- | --------------- |
| Buy below the current price | GTC limit order |
| Buy above the current price | Trigger order |
| Sell above the current price | GTC limit order |
| Sell below the current price | Trigger order |

All order values must be at least $10.
